"STEP by STEP" was an exhibition curated for the Studio of Young Artists’ Association (FKSE) in Budapest, organized to coincide with the significant archival transition in which over four decades of FKSE’s history were donated to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). The exhibition critically engaged with the archive not merely as a repository of information but as a material and conceptual framework—an architecture of memory—through which to present works by Katalin Kortmann-Járay & Karina Mendreczky, Klaudia Januško, Csilla Bartus, Jan Bražina, Diana B. Gil, Janina Weißengruber, and artist-in-residence Bianka Chladek. By foregrounding the archive as a spatial and narrative device, the exhibition invited reflection on the modular systems of pre-digital archival practice and their capacity to shape collective memory. As a prologue to the exhibition, FKSE members antenna laura and eden_jeneses hosted a music event featuring DJ sets by Shoggoth13, DJABC, and live music by izoláltrendszer+esze_veszett (zaj+).
